Adrien Brody’s Divisive R-Rated Thriller Is Leaving Netflix 

Adrien Brody’s 2023 R-rated drama is set to leave Netflix after a limited run on the platform. The film, which drew a divided response from critics and audiences following its release, is scheduled to be removed in May. It has drawn renewed attention as it prepares to exit the streaming service.

Manodrome exits Netflix in May

Adrien Brody’s R-rated thriller Manodrome is set to leave Netflix next month. According to What’s On Netflix, the film will be removed from the platform on May 8, 2026. This marks the end of its current streaming availability.

Written and directed by John Trengove, the film debuted in theatres on November 10, 2023. The story centers on Ralphie, portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg. He’s a taxi driver struggling to navigate his girlfriend’s pregnancy and his own unresolved identity issues. His life takes a darker turn after he becomes involved with a secretive, male-dominated group. 

As Ralphie is drawn deeper into the group’s influence, his mental state begins to deteriorate. His personality then shifts in increasingly destructive ways. The film examines his internal conflict as well as the external pressures. Other cast members include Odessa Young as Sal, Sallieu Sesay as Ahmet, Philip Ettinger as Jason, and Ethan Suplee as Leo among others.

The film received a mixed to negative response. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a critics’ score of 49% based on 35 reviews. Meanwhile, the audience rating stands at 24% on Popcornmeter.

Alex Harrison of Screen Rant reported, “Manodrome lacks depth as either social commentary or character study, in large part because of how it positions us in relation to its protagonist’s perspective. Though we are tied to his experience, this closeness doesn’t come with the same flirtation with complicity at the core of both those touchstones, resulting in a movie that, while admittedly mood-altering, is relatively toothless.”
