Charlize Theron’s Whiplash-Like Movie Adds Harry Potter & Heated Rivalry Stars
Amazon MGM Studios has officially tapped four new cast members to join Academy Award winner Charlize Theron in the upcoming culinary thriller movie Tyrant. Production has already started on the star-studded project in Los Angeles, after receiving a California Film Tax Credit.
Who is joining Charlize Theron’s Tyrant movie?
Harry Potter TV show star Paapa Essiedu and Heated Rivalry breakout star Hudson Williams have joined the Tyrant cast alongside singer-actor Omar Apollo and TikTok star Nara Smith. This marks the latter’s feature acting debut. Besides Theron, they are also joining previously announced stars Golden Globe winner Demi Moore (The Substance) and Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark). The film is a high-stakes thriller set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene. Further details about the plot and characters are still under wraps, but it reportedly has the same tone as 1987’s Wall Street and 2014’s Whiplash.
The movie is being directed by David Weil, who also wrote the screenplay based on Weil and Cody Behan’s story. In addition to starring, Theron is also serving as a producer alongside Beth Kono and A.J. Dix through their Secret Menu production banner. Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona of The Picture Company and Natalie Laine Williams are also set to produce the project.
Before Tyrant, Theron can now be seen in Netflix’s recently released survival thriller movie Apex, which is also led by Taron Egerton. Later this year, on July 17, she will also be a part of Christopher Nolan’s star-studded cast for The Odyssey.
