Angry Hulk Returns With Spider-Man 4 Toy, Villain Plot Teased: ‘Friend or Foe?’

Hasbro Pulse has thrown a curveball into the Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day rumor mill ahead of the film’s July release. The toy retailer’s latest product description plants a seed of doubt around Bruce Banner’s intentions, hinting that Peter Parker’s reunion with the Hulk may not be the friendly team-up fans had pictured.

Spider-Man 4’s Hulk description teases Hulk as a villain

Hasbro Pulse has revealed a Spider-Man 4 product description hinting that the Hulk could be an antagonist in the upcoming MCU film. Attached to a new Marvel Legends figure announcement, the description raises questions about Bruce Banner’s allegiance when he reunites with Peter Parker.

The Hasbro Pulse account posted the teaser on X on April 25, 2026, promoting pre-orders for the Marvel Legends Spider-Man and Hulk figures inspired by the film. The post stated, “A new chapter begins… Inspired by #SpiderManBrandNewDay, #MarvelLegends #SpiderMan brings agility and motion while #Hulk delivers raw power and presence.”

The accompanying product description reads, “Spider-Man is surprised to see the Hulk again after so much time has passed, and has no idea if Hulk will remember him. Will Hulk be a friend or foe?” The wording suggests a significant time gap since their last interaction and leaves Hulk’s role in the story deliberately ambiguous.

Mark Ruffalo reprises his role as Bruce Banner and the Hulk, with his casting confirmed in August 2025. Banner is now a professor at Empire State University, teaching quantum mechanics. In the story, Parker turns to him for help regarding his mutating superpowers. Additionally, Banner wears an inhibitor device to suppress his gamma radiation and appear human.

Meanwhile, Producer Kevin Feige said the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home was a promise to audiences. Specifically, fans would see Tom Holland as a “proper Spider-Man” for the first time, fighting street-level crime in New York City. Holland previously expressed interest in an MCU team-up with Spider-Man and the Hulk. He believes they should have a “big brother–little brother” dynamic.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in the United States on July 31, 2026.
