Alan Ritchson Movie Beats Jack Black’s $665M Hit in Streaming Wars

An Alan Ritchson film has climbed to the top of Peacock’s U.S. streaming chart, overtaking an animated sequel led by Jack Black. The former now holds the top position on the platform, pushing the long-running franchise sequel into second place. The shift comes despite competition from several high-profile films on the platform. 

Ordinary Angels tops Peacock charts

Ordinary Angels, featuring Alan Ritchson, has climbed to the top of Peacock’s streaming rankings in the United States. It surpassed Kung Fu Panda 2, which stars Jack Black. 

Data from FlixPatrol shows the film holding the number one position on April 23, 2026, with the animated sequel placed just behind it. Both films surpassed several well-known titles, including Bee Movie, The Other Woman, and Now You See Me. 

Directed by Jon Gunn, Ordinary Angels was released in cinemas in February 2024. It draws inspiration from real-life events during a severe winter period in North America in the mid-1990s. It follows Sharon, played by Hilary Swank, a struggling hairdresser who becomes involved in helping a widowed father care for his two daughters after learning that the younger child urgently needs a liver transplant. She then takes it upon herself to organize support and rally the community.

The cast includes Ritchson as Ed, Emily Mitchell as Michelle, Skywalker Hughes as Ashley, and Nancy Travis as Barbara, among others. Furthermore, the film was well-received upon release. It holds an 84% critics’ score and a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Kung Fu Panda 2, directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, was released in 2011. The film follows Po as he faces Lord Shen while confronting his past. The voice cast includes Jack Black, Gary Oldman, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, and Michelle Yeoh. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an 82% critics’ score and a 74% audience score.
