Henry Cavill’s $1M Action Thriller Finds Streaming Resurgence
Henry Cavill’s lesser-known action thriller is experiencing a surprising comeback years after its release. Despite collecting just $1 million at the box office, Night Hunter is now climbing streaming charts, showcasing renewed audience interest in the actor’s earlier work.
Night Hunter is trending highly on Starz’s streaming charts
Night Hunter is currently enjoying a surge in popularity on Starz, where it ranks No. 2 on the platform’s Top 10 movies list in the United States as of April 21, according to Flix Patrol. It sits just behind The Housemaid at No. 1 and ahead of titles like Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Marshall, and Gemini Man.
This resurgence isn’t entirely unprecedented. Henry Cavill’s movie previously found success on streaming in 2025, when it climbed to No. 3 on the global charts on Paramount+ in both September and November. Its continued performance suggests a growing appreciation among viewers discovering it outside traditional theatrical channels.
Night Hunter follows a police detective played by Henry Cavill, who becomes entangled in a dangerous investigation involving a vigilante and a serial predator responsible for multiple abductions and murders. Apart from the Superman star, the cast included Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario, and Stanley Tucci, alongside supporting performances from Brendan Fletcher, Minka Kelly, and Nathan Fillion.
Written and directed by David Raymond, the Canadian action thriller initially struggled to make an impact during its theatrical run. The film premiered at the LA Film Festival in 2018, before receiving a video-on-demand release via DirecTV in August 2019, followed by a limited theatrical release on September 6 through Saban Films.
Despite a strong premise and a cast packed with recognizable names, the movie failed to generate good enough box office returns. However, time appears to be working in its favor. Streaming platforms have given Night Hunter a second life, allowing it to reach a broader audience that may have missed it during its original release.
