Man of Tomorrow Actor Reveals When He Begins Filming
As filming for Man of Tomorrow recently began, a DC star revealed they will soon begin shooting their scenes as well. Fans are excited about the actor’s return, who is expected to have a bigger role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.
Frank Grillo gives Man of Tomorrow filming update
Frank Grillo, who has played Rick Flag Sr. since Creature Commandos, recently shared an update on when he’ll film his scenes for Man of Tomorrow. He posted a small clip on Instagram, captioned, “Back in the ATL for the next adventure.”
In the video, the Tulsa King actor said, “Hey. Off the plane. As you know, in the gym, getting ready for day one, Man of Tomorrow, Superman. Day one for me tomorrow. Couldn’t be more f—ing excited to go kick some a–. Superman.”
Based on the post’s timeline, it appears that Grillo will begin shooting for the film today, April 21. This is just a day after the filming began for James Gunn’s next film. The scope of Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. in the film is kept under wraps. But given the conclusion of Peacemaker Season 2, it is reasonable to expect him to play a bigger role than in previous DC projects.
Man of Tomorrow is a follow-up to the 2025 film, Superman. Gunn returns to the director’s chair for the sequel, while also writing the script. In the next installment, Superman and his allies will face a larger threat posed by Brainiac. Furthermore, the Man of Steel will team up with Lex Luthor to take down the cyborg supervillain.
Along with Grillo, David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, María Gabriela de Faría, Isabela Merced, and Aaron Pierre are also reprising their respective roles. Meanwhile, new additions include Lars Eidinger as Brainiac and Adria Arjona reportedly as Maxima. Some fans continue to speculate that Arjona could be Wonder Woman, though there is no official confirmation to support that claim.
Currently, DC Studios is eying a July 9, 2027, release for Man of Tomorrow. Before it debuts in theaters next year, the new DC series Lanterns will premiere in August 2026. It will feature Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
