Man of Tomorrow: First Set Photo Released for New Superman DCU Movie

A new Man of Tomorrow set photo has been released.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Man of Tomorrow will be released in United States theaters in 2027. Written and directed by James Gunn, the DCU movie serves as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman. Both David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are reprising their respective roles as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.

What do we see in the Man of Tomorrow set photo?

Production on Man of Tomorrow is now officially underway. To celebrate the occasion, Gunn shared a photo taken from the set of the movie. It doesn’t reveal too much about the plot or actually show any characters; rather, the photo is of a chessboard. There is noticeably a “VanKull Department of Corrections” ID tag for Luthor (Lex’s full name is Alexander, hence the “A”) and a bag of Ruffles chips that can be seen in the photo as well.

Story details for Man of Tomorrow remain under wraps at this time, though it is known that the movie will force Superman and Lex to work together to defeat a greater threat. This greater threat will presumably be Brainiac, a DC villain who is being played by Lars Eidinger.

The cast of the movie further includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Additionally, Adria Arjona will appear in the movie, though there are conflicting reports regarding who she’s playing, as some believe it to be Maxima and others are convinced she’s been cast as Wonder Woman. Gunn has not commented on the matter.

Man of Tomorrow arrives on Jul 9, 2027. Superman, meanwhile, is available to stream on HBO Max.
