Djimon Hounsou on if he could return to How To Train Your Dragon

Djimon Hounsou has addressed the possibility of returning to How to Train Your Dragon as the live-action adaptation continues to move forward with changes to its cast. The actor indicated that he has not yet been approached for the new project. However, he remains open to being involved again.

In a recent ScreenRant interview, Hounsou spoke about his experience with the franchise and described the role as a significant part of his career. He suggested that he would be open to participating again if given the opportunity, saying, “Yes. That was fun, and that was my first animation, right? I did not know that you had to be so bigger than life.

Hounsou also acknowledged that no discussions have taken place so far regarding his inclusion in the live-action films. He said, “No, patiently or impatiently looking for the phone call, but we’ll see.” Despite the uncertainty, Hounsou made it clear that he would welcome the opportunity to be part of the franchise again. “It would be lovely to be part of that show again. And yeah, for the sake of my kids, at least that will be fun,” he explained.

The upcoming adaptation has recast the role of Drago, with Ólafur Darri Ólafsson set to take over the character. While some performers from the animated films are returning, others have been replaced as the project takes shape.

The animated How to Train Your Dragon 2 achieved both commercial success and critical recognition, earning over $621 million worldwide.
