Unannounced Marvel Hero’s Avengers: Doomsday Return Just Got Revealed

Avengers: Doomsday just got another returning face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s one fans might not have expected to see confirmed this soon. Kathryn Newton is officially back as Cassie Lang, adding to the film’s already stacked lineup ahead of its 2026 release.

Newton is officially suiting up again. The star of 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will reprise her role as Cassie Lang in Avengers: Doomsday, the multiverse epic slated to hit theaters December 18, 2026.

Newton bypassed the usual studio press release and shared the news directly on Instagram. She posted a video revealing a mini director’s chair bearing her name and joked about her character’s abilities, saying, “It’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny. She’s small, but sometimes she’s big. It depends what’s happening.” The video also shows Newton heading out of her trailer as crew members prepare her for filming.

Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang won’t be alone. Paul Rudd is also returning as Scott Lang, continuing their on-screen father-daughter dynamic. They’ll be joined by a massive ensemble that includes Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Anthony Mackie, and Letitia Wright.

Kevin Feige teased this massive convergence at CinemaCon, stating, “Doomsday picks up where Avengers: Endgame left off.” He also emphasized the scale of the project, particularly with the Avengers and X-Men set to collide. The Russo Brothers are back in the director’s chairs, with Joe Russo teasing the film’s central threat. “He’s not simply a villain — he’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.” Avengers: Doomsday trailer shown at the event offered a look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom (via The Hollywood Reporter).

All in all, set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest films yet, combining legacy characters, new heroes, and returns like Cassie Lang into a big multiverse story.
