The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets close to $750 million at global box office
Universal Pictures’ The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continues its impressive and strong theatrical run across the globe. The animated adventure has now earned $747.5 million at the global box office, according to Box Office Mojo. The film collected $355 million domestically and approximately $392 million from international territories combined.
The movie earned roughly $35 million in its third domestic weekend across 4,170 theaters nationwide. That figure marks a notable decline from its second weekend but keeps the film atop domestic charts. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie initially opened to a massive $131.7 million from 4,252 theaters on April 1.
The film currently leads the 2026 global box office rankings by a very wide margin over its competitors. It sits well ahead of the Chinese blockbuster Pegasus 3 at $641.1 million in second place. Project Hail Mary holds third position with $573.1 million, followed closely by Hoppers at $367.2 million worldwide.
Wuthering Heights rounds out the current global top five with $241.3 million earned so far this year. The animated sequel carries a reported production budget of $110 million from Universal Pictures. Its current worldwide haul represents nearly seven times that initial production investment for the studio.
The PG-rated adventure runs one hour and 38 minutes and follows Mario venturing into space. The sequel takes the character beyond the familiar Mushroom Kingdom into new galactic challenges and cosmic worlds.
Its widest domestic release reached 4,284 theaters during its second weekend. Domestic earnings account for 47.5 percent of the worldwide total, with international markets contributing the remaining 52.5 percent.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now playing in theaters worldwide.
