Spy to stream on Hulu next month

Spy will begin streaming on Hulu from Friday, May 1, 2026 (via Hulu).

Paul Feig, known for The Housemaid and The Office, wrote and directed Spy. It features Jason Statham as Rick, Rose Byrne as Rayna, Melissa McCarthy as Susan, Jude Law as Bradley, Allison Janney as Elaine, Bobby Cannavale as Sergio, Morena Baccarin as Karen, and 50 Cent as himself, among others.

The story centers on Susan, a desk-bound CIA agent, as she assists her field agent Bradley on his mission. However, when the mission goes terribly wrong, Susan goes undercover because the identities of other CIA agents have been compromised. She navigates the criminal world while trying to locate a nuclear bomb’s dealer.

Along the way, Susan faces interruptions from Rick Ford, a rogue agent who doesn’t believe that she can complete the mission due to a lack of experience in the field.

Spy debuted at the South by Southwest (SXSW) annual event on March 15. 20th Century Fox, the film’s distributor, released the film in the United States on June 5, 2015. The combination of a light-hearted comedy and spy action seemingly pleased the majority of the moviegoers, earning highly respectable scores on review-aggregator sites.

Rotten Tomatoes score shows that the critics had a high opinion of the film, resulting in an average Tomatometer score of 94%. Meanwhile, the audience score sits at 78%. The favorable reception is reflected in the film’s box office performance as well. According to Box Office Mojo, Spy cost $65 million to make. The film ended its theatrical run with a worldwide gross collection of $235 million.

Following the film’s success, Feig revealed that he was already working on the script for a sequel. However, in 2019, he explained that the studio had not yet expressed any interest (via GamesRadar). Although Byrne and the director recently expressed a desire to make a sequel, it has yet to materialize.
