Charli xcx on not using her birth name for acting credits
In a conversation with British Vogue, the interviewer asked Charli XCX if she would be returning to her real name for the credits of her upcoming projects. She said, “I spoke to a couple of people about whether I should change that. I’m on the fence about it.” She thinks that Charli Aitchison is not “super popping.” Further being asked about the possibility of using her birthname Charlotte, she added, “Oh, I’m never gonna be Charlotte. Come on.”
She further reflected on how she stepped into the acting world, which she had feared about earlier, but after trying, she felt “really amazing.” Explaining the scary feeling of trying out a new career, she elaborated, “It can be scary to leave something behind that you’re known for, then risk it all trying to do something else.”
Appreciating the chance to get to explore this industry, she added, “I feel so lucky to be on set with so many actors and directors I admire. I have a hunger to learn and understand how other people do it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like, ‘Wow, I killed that.’ I feel ready to do it 1,000 times if necessary.” Charli XCX is set to appear in a total of four projects this year.
She will play Bethany in Pete Ohs’ directed Erupcja, which originally premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2025. Next, she would appear in Greg Araki’s I Want Your Sex. Premiered at Sundance Film Festival, she will play a fictionalized version of herself in the mockumentary, The Moment. Lastly, she’ll star in a remake of the 1978 horror movie, Faces of Death, helmed by Daniel Goldhaber.
