Selena Gomez To Star in 4-Hour X-Rated Movie From Oscar Winner
Selena Gomez has found her next feature film role, and it’s to star in an upcoming X-Rated movie that’s going to be four hours long, and come from a recent major Oscar winner.
What do we know about Selena Gomez’s new X-Rated movie?
According to a new report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, Gomez will star in the next movie from Brady Corbet, who directed 2024’s The Brutalist, which took home a number of Oscars. Sneider also noted Corbet’s film is rumored to be titled The Origin of the World, but that has not been made official at all.
As of now, Corbet’s new movie remains mostly mysterious. The film is reported to be a massive project, and span over 150 years in its plot, from the 19th century to the present day, but will be focused largely on the 1970s. In an interview in In November of 2025, Corbet confirmed that the movie was X-Rated and a big undertaking, and revealed it will explore “Northern California’s economy” in some fashion. Corbet also said the movie will be shot “entirely” on 70mm, and did debunk some other rumors about the project.
“All I can say about the new film is that there’s been a lot of misinformation. It’s true that the film is an X-rated movie, and it’s true that it takes place mostly in the 1970s, but the film spans from the 19th century into the present day — it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying,” Corbet said at the time. “But it was reported that the movie has something to do with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which is not true at all. That is just inaccurate. I think that the reason that was misconstrued is that I was talking about making a film that’s set in the 1970s. It will owe a debt to films of the period, but it’s not a slasher film. I’d love to make one, one day, but this one’s not.”
Gomez most recently starred in 2024’s Emilia Pérez, and has been starring in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building since 2021.
