Nicholas Hoult’s How to Rob a Bank trailer shown at CinemaCon

Amazon MGM Studios recently dropped the teaser trailer for David Leitch’s How to Rob a Bank during their CinemaCon presentation.

The footage shows a group of criminals, led by Nicholas Hoult’s character, who document their bank robberies on their YouTube channel. Having robbed 15 banks, they have accumulated 31 million followers. They are also clear about operating in style and making an impact, donning animal masks, with Hoult sporting a wolf one. They declare, “Make your outfits memorable, just have fun with it (via The Hollywood Reporter).”

Meanwhile, a crew member, played by Pete Davidson, explains one of the main rules of their operations. He says that they have to pay forward the money they rob to a good, genuine cause, excluding OnlyFans, which he deems “not a charity.”

One scene highlights an FBI agent, played by John C. Reilly, and his dedication to stopping the robbers. Highlighting their crimes, which include “61 felonies” as well as their massive following, he emphasizes how the FBI has access to the federal government’s wealth of resources and that they should work harder to stop the criminals (via Deadline).

The footage builds toward a setup in which Reilly and Zoë Kravitz’s character predict how the robbers will attack a particular bank out of personal vendetta, and that they will use the information to put a stop to their crimes. This is confirmed by Hoult’s character telling the bank’s owner, played by Christian Slater, how they were responsible for the former’s son’s death.

During the presentation, Leitch described the criminals as regular people fighting back against a corrupt and greedy system. “Modern-day Robin Hoods, taking from the rich and giving to poor,” he added.

In addition to Hoult, Davidson, Reilly, Kravitz, and Slater, the movie features Anna Sawai and Rhenzy Feliz.
