Henry Cavill’s ‘Immortal’ Warrior Shines in ‘Epic’ Highlander Teaser Trailer

Henry Cavill steps into another legendary role, with the first trailer of Highlander teasing a bold and action-heavy reboot. The early preview hints at a grand story, intense battles, and a character who carries centuries of history on his shoulders.

Henry Cavill introduces first footage from Highlander reboot at CinemaCon

The first look at Highlander was revealed during CinemaCon, where Henry Cavill himself introduced the teaser trailer through a video message. He said the team is still midway through filming, but already feels they are building something special. That confidence shows in the scale and tone of the preview. “We are only halfway through production but already feel we are creating something truly special,” Cavill said.

The footage opens with Cavill’s character making a powerful statement. He says, “I am Connor MacLeod, who was born in 1518, and I am immortal.” This line sets the foundation for the story, which follows a warrior who cannot die and must face others like him in brutal combat. The teaser comprises historical settings and plenty of fast-paced action (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Amazon MGM’s X (formerly Twitter) post about the same read, “A sneak peek for Chad Stahelski’s reimagining of the classic film Highlander starring Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, and Dave Bautista is now being shown to the crowd. ‘This film is epic in scope, visceral in action, and exactly the kind of bold, cinematic bet we believe in.'”

Actors like Dave Bautista also appear briefly, with his character warning MacLeod about changing history. The footage ends with different voices repeating the iconic line, “There can be only one.” This appears to be the film’s central conflict. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick series, the reboot aims to bring a modern edge to the classic 1986 film.

That original movie, starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, built a cult following and later inspired a TV series. Even now, the 1986 film sits on an impressive 7/10 rating on IMDb.

Cavill, best known for playing Superman in the DC films and Geralt in The Witcher, has built a strong reputation in action and fantasy roles. While he hasn’t won major Oscars, he remains one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars in big-budget franchises. Cavill has also starred in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Argylle, Night Hunter, and many more.
