Jessica Chastain & Family Stalked by Terrifying Monster in Other Mommy Trailer

Blumhouse unveiled chilling first footage from its upcoming horror film Other Mommy at CinemaCon. The trailer introduces Jessica Chastain‘s character and her family as they confront a sinister presence lurking far too close to home.

Other Mommy reveals trailer at CinemaCon

Blumhouse has unveiled the first trailer for Other Mommy at CinemaCon during the Universal and Focus Features panel. The horror film stars Jessica Chastain and releases on October 9. Rob Savage directs the movie from a script by Nathan Elston.

The trailer opens with Chastain greeting her young daughter at the door and making pasta together. She tells the child she thinks about when they were one person and asks where the daughter was before. The pasta burns, the smoke alarm sounds, and the dad puts out the fire before falling out a window after seeing a monster.

The dad later tells Chastain’s character someone in the house looked just like her but wasn’t. A quick montage captures the family in distress. The daughter then asks Chastain whether she is her real mom or the imposter terrorizing them.

James Wan produces the film through Atomic Monster alongside Blumhouse. The cast includes Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Arabella Olivia Clark, Sean Kaufman, Adam Silver, and Karen Allen. Chastain previously appeared in horror films Mama, Crimson Peak, and IT Chapter Two.

Other Mommy marks Chastain’s first horror role in seven years since IT Chapter Two in 2019. It also marks her first collaboration with Savage, who previously directed Strings, Host, Dashcam, and The Boogeyman. Savage also helmed two episodes of the anthology series Soulmates.

The October 9 release positions the film in the weeks leading up to Halloween. Other Mommy opens against The Social Reckoning, the follow-up to The Social Network. Blumhouse has had mixed box office results recently, with M3GAN 2.0 underperforming and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 succeeding as a major hit.
