Five sci-fi dystopian adventure movies from Lionsgate have just been added to Hulu‘s movie library. Since debuting in 2012, the star-studded film franchise has already garnered a combined gross of over $3.3 billion at the box office worldwide.
What popular sci-fi movies are now available on Hulu?
Beginning today, 2012’s The Hunger Games, 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 2014’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes are now finally available to stream on Hulu. The blockbuster franchise featured an all-star cast consisting of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julieanne Moore, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, and more.
“In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love,” reads the synopsis for the first installment.
The Hunger Games franchise was based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling sci-fi dystopian novel series. The first movie was directed by Gary Ross, while the rest of the sequels were helmed by Francis Lawrence. Following the 2023 film’s success, Lionsgate is once again releasing another Hunger Games prequel later this year on November 20. Titled Sunrise on the Reaping, the upcoming movie takes place during the 50th Hunger Games, following a young Haymitch Abernathy as one of District 12’s four tributes. It stars Joseph Zada, Mckenna Grace, Whitney Peak, Jesse Plemons, Maya Hawke, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close, and Ralph Fiennes, with Lawrence and Hutcherson expected to reprise their fan-favorite roles.
