Brad Pitt’s R-Rated World War 2 Action Movie Is Leaving Netflix

The 2014 Brad Pitt-led war film is set to depart from Netflix’s content library next month. The film tells the brutal story of an American tank crew as they fight Nazi during the final months of World War II.

Fury leaves Netflix in May

Netflix will bid farewell to the epic war film, Fury, on Friday, May 1, 2026.

The story centers on Don “Wardaddy” Collier, the commander of the M4A3E8 Sherman tank, dubbed Fury, and his experienced crew. Following the death of the tank’s bow gunner, a clerk named Norman joins the crew. However, Norman’s fear of violence leads to the death of another tank’s crew, prompting others to despise him. During a later mission, Fury is immobilized and has a broken radio. Unable to call for backup, the crew decides to bravely face the incoming Nazi army alone.

The film’s cast features Brad Pitt as Don, Shia LaBeouf as Boyd, Logan Lerman as Norman, Michael Peña as Trini, Jon Bernthal as Grady, Jason Isaacs as Waggoner, and Scott Eastwood as Miles, among others.

David Ayer, known for Training Day, directed and wrote the film’s script. He claims the inspiration for the script came from his grandparents and uncle, who served in the military. Ayer added that, as a veteran himself, he wanted to make a film focused on the tank crew.

Reportedly, the director also made the lead cast undergo four months of training in preparation for the film. From physical fights to intense courses, the cast trained under real Navy SEALs. “They were successful in getting every one of us to break down. To reach the limit physically and emotionally where we wanted to quit,” Bernthal told Express.

Sony Pictures Releasing handled Fury’s distribution, releasing the film on October 17, 2014. Despite criticism for its fairly inaccurate historical representation, both critics and moviegoers praised the film for its grounded, gritty portrayal. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently boasts a 84% Popcornmeter score and a 75% Tomatometer score. Furthermore, it earned roughly $211.8 million globally, making the film a commercial success.
