The Social Reckoning Trailer Shows Jeremy Strong’s Mark Zuckerberg Look

Aaron Sorkin, the writer and director of The Social Reckoning, took to the stage at CinemaCon to launch the trailer for the upcoming film. Also referred to as The Social Network 2, the movie drops in theaters later this year. It serves as a companion piece to David Fincher’s 2010 feature, which Sorkin wrote and featured Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield as Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, respectively.

Sorkin showed the first look at The Social Reckoning at CinemaCon 2026. The film covers events surrounding the 2021 Facebook leak, wherein an internal document leak reportedly exposed the social media company’s awareness of the societal harm its platforms caused, which they allegedly ignored. Ex-employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen released it and The Wall Street Journal’s Jeff Horwitz reported on it.

At the event, Aaron Sorkin gave a brief speech that reminded audiences about The Social Network, which follows Mark Zuckerberg’s creation of Facebook. He told them that since the social media service’s expansion and transformation into a global corporation, many things had changed. The filmmaker added, “There isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has reshaped everything” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

“It’s time to say more,” he further stated before describing the upcoming movie as “a real David and Goliath story.”

The teaser trailer features Jeremy Strong’s Mark Zuckerberg, Mikey Madison‘s Frances Haugen, and Jeremy Allen White’s Jeff Horwitz. In it, Haugen assures Horwitz that she isn’t trying to harm Facebook but help it.

Meanwhile, Strong’s Zuckerberg declares in a courtroom, “I am professional defendant.” He also claims he is “a free speech absolutist” and further stresses, “I’m not the one who’s lying, and I’m not stopping them from seeing someone who is” (via Entertainment Weekly). In another scene, the social media company founder firmly emphasizes his authority. He states, “People understand that when I say no, that’s the end of the debate.”

Also shown is Horwtiz addressing the issue of making an enemy out of Facebook compared to other entities. He notes, “I know there are easier enemies to make.”

The film hits theaters on October 9, 2026. It stars Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, Billy Magnussen, and Betty Gilpin in addition to Strong, White, and Madison.
