Jack Black and Donald Glover have expressed interest in leading a potential film adaptation of Duck Hunt, highlighting enthusiasm for projects based on classic video game titles. Although no official plans for such a film have been announced, both actors indicated they would be open to participating if the project moves forward.
During a Screen Rant interview, the two actors discussed how they would fit into a possible adaptation. Black indicated that he would prefer to take on the role of the hunter, saying, “I can go hunting ducks.” Meanwhile, Glover suggested he would portray the game’s well-known ‘Laughing Dog.’ He said, “Yeah. I’ll play the dog. I can laugh at people. You should probably be the dog. I’ll be the hunter.”
The two also playfully encouraged studios to consider them if a Duck Hunt film ever enters development. Originally released in 1984, Duck Hunt became one of the most popular games for Nintendo’s early home console system. The game required players to use a light gun device to shoot moving targets on screen.
Black has previously explored ideas connected to video game-inspired films. In an earlier Entertainment Tonight interview, he discussed a potential crossover concept involving A Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. When asked how he would use Bowser’s fire-breathing ability, he responded, “Here’s the weird thing, I think I’d get some raw chickens… and just blaze them,” before continuing in a playful tone, “And then it’s like a crossover…”
He went on to add, “I might get in trouble with the Minecraft people if I start singing this. I wrote it! I think I get to use it! There you go. It’s Bowser’s Lava Chicken.”
