Laverne Cox details her experience of working with Keanu Reeves on Outcome

On the red carpet at the premiere of Outcome, Laverne Cox spoke to PEOPLE, sharing her experience working with Keanu Reeves. “Keanu is focused, and Keanu is intense and just dialed in every single take,” she praised the John Wick star.

Cox noted that when they are not filming, Reeves just “chills a bit, and he’s talking more.” She continued, “But he’s chill and really normal—as normal as you can be when you’re an international superstar. But very chill, and unassuming and almost shy, which makes you want him even more.”

However, the Emmy-winning actress shared that she was “very appropriate on the set,” adding, “I didn’t flirt.”

Laverne Cox portrays Virginia Allen-Green in the Apple TV original film. It centers on a Hollywood star, Reef Hawk (Reeves). He goes on a redemption journey of apologizing to people he wronged. He also looks to identify the person who’s blackmailing him with a career-ending video.

The Orange Is the New Black alum recalled receiving an email from Jonah Hill to cast her. Although she was initially hesitant, she found his desire to have her in the film very “sweet” and “lovely.” She eventually agreed to read the script and ended up loving it.

The Inventing Anna actress went on to explain that she found the script to be “smart, funny, and insightful.” She added, “So insightful what Virginia gets to say. It started as a five-page monologue that she has that’s some of the most prescient, smartest stuff I’ve gotten to say as a character on screen.”

Cox concluded, saying that she would’ve agreed to the film if Hill had just said that Keanu Reeves was headlining Outcome.
