The Dictator’s Sacha Baron Cohen’s New Comedy To Hit Netflix Very Soon

A new rom-com starring Sacha Baron Cohen will premiere on Netflix next month. Starring alongside an incredible cast, the film follows a man who is transported to an alternate universe where genders are flipped, and women dominate the world.

Ladies First arrives on Netflix in May

Ladies First, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, will stream on Netflix sometime next month. Although an official release date has not yet been made public, Tudum reports that it will debut in May 2026. A trailer for the film is expected to arrive soon.

It is loosely inspired by the Eléonore Pourriat-directed French film Je ne suis pas un homme facile (I Am Not an Easy Man). The upcoming film is directed by Thea Sharrock. She is known for directing projects like Call the Midwife, Me Before You, Wicked Little Letters, The Beautiful Game, and others.

Netflix’s Ladies First centers on a chauvinist man who wakes up in a matriarchal society. Upon arrival, he struggles to find his place and only gets worse when he meets the female version of himself. It blends comedy and romance while exploring important, real-world social themes. The original film was hailed for its unique premise and thought-provoking subject.

The rest of the film’s cast includes Rosamund Pike, Charles Dance, Richard E. Grant, Fiona Shaw, Emily Mortimer, Tom Davis, Weruche Opia, Kadiff Kirwan, Kathryn Hunter, and Bill Paterson.

The screenplay is written by Katie Silberman, Cinco Paul, and Natalie Krinsky. Meanwhile, Liza Chasin, Eleonore Dailly, and Edouard de Lachomette serve as the lead producers. Chasin is co-producing the film under her production company, 3dot Productions. And, the Borat actor is co-producing the film under his banner, Four By Two Films.

Alongside Ladies First, Netflix will also debut Remarkable Bright Creatures on May 8, Devil May Cry Season 2 on May 12, The Boroughs on May 21, and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 on May 27.
