What Sydney Sweeney movie is out now?
Christy, the 2025 biographical sports drama directed by David Michôd, is on HBO Max now. Christy sees Sweeney take on the role of the legendary boxer who was the first female boxer elected into Nevada’s Boxing Hall of Fame and is also an International Boxing Hall of Famer. The movie will not only chronicle Martin’s rise to fame in the boxing world but also her attempted murder by her husband in 2010 as well.
“Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).”
The movie premiered to mixed reviews, and although Sweeney, Ben Foster, and Merrit Wever’s performances were praised, Christy was considered a box-office bomb, earning just $2 million at the global box office.
Christy is directed by David Michôd from a screenplay written by Michôd and Mirrah Foulkes. Kerry Kohansky-Roberts, Teddy Schwarzman, Brent Stiefel, Justin Lothrop, Michôd, and Sydney Sweeney serve as producers on the film.
Along with Sweeney, the movie starred Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Katy O’Brian, Chad L. Coleman, and Tony Cavalero. Currently, no release information for the movie is available.
