Old Spider-Man: Brand New Day Synopsis Leaves MCU Fans Confused About Timeline
An old synopsis for Spider-Man 4 is making headlines, as the previous information has fooled MCU fans and movie theaters.
How is the old Spider-Man 4 synopsis confusing fans?
On Regal Cinemas’ website, there is a brief logline for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It states, “After Doomsday, Peter Parker tries to focus on college and leave Spider-Man behind. But when a new threat endangers his friends, he must break his promise and suit up again, teaming with an unexpected ally to protect those he loves.”
This claim suggests that Spider-Man 4 takes place after Avengers: Doomsday. However, neither Marvel nor Sony has confirmed the synopsis posted on Regal’s website. It’s an outdated synopsis from a 2024 issue of Production Weekly. At the time of that 2024 post, Avengers: Doomsday was scheduled to come out on May 1, 2026, over two months before Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Therefore, Spider-Man 4 was literally scheduled to arrive after Doomsday.
In 2025, Disney delayed Avengers: Doomsday to December 18, 2026. The unconfirmed synopsis was never adjusted after the date change, which has led to the misinformation on the movie theater’s website.
Marvel and Sony released the official synopsis when the trailer dropped in March. “Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the official synopsis reads. “Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The ensemble includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
Destin Daniel Cretton directs Spider-Man: Brand New Day from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie arrives in theaters on July 31, 2026.
