Lee is currently working on a fresh draft alongside Joanna Calo, with Jake Schreier directing. The group is collaborating closely with Marvel leadership, including Kevin Feige. Lee described the process to Collider as “spit-balling” sessions, where the team keeps refining ideas and shaping the story together.

Lee’s connection to X-Men goes way back. He shared that watching the animated series and reading comics with his father were part of his childhood routine. That personal history plays a big role in how seriously he’s taking the project. “I hold these characters near and dear to my heart,” he said, adding that he feels “honored” to contribute.

He also mentioned liking Jubilee. Lee also stressed that things are still early in development. He shared that nothing is locked yet and that the team is focused on getting the story right before anything else.
