Alien: Earth’s Noah Hawley Is Directing Remake of Critically Acclaimed Horror Movie

Alien: Earth’s Noah Hawley is directing a remake of a critically acclaimed horror movie.

In addition to Alien: Earth, Hawley is known for creating FX television series like Legion and Fargo. He also created the 2009 ABC show The Unusuals and wrote the screenplay for 2006’s The Alibi. Hawley made his feature film directorial debut with 2019’s Lucy in the Sky, which is the only movie he’s helmed to date.

What horror movie is Noah Hawley remaking?

Per The Hollywood Reporter, it has now been announced that Hawley will be directing a remake of a 2017 Argentine horror movie titled Terrified for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The original Terrified movie was written and directed by Demián Rugna. That film “centers on a police officer and a series of paranormal researchers and investigators who attempt to get to the bottom of supernatural occurrences that are centered in one neighborhood in Buenos Aires.”

The Hollywood Reporter describes Hawley’s movie as a “reimagining” of the 2017 film, though further plot details beyond that remain under wraps at this point. Rugna is developing the remake with Hawley, with Hawley also serving as a producer on the film through his Austin-based banner 26 Keys.

No casting information for the remake is available at this time. A remake has not yet been announced.

The original Terrified, meanwhile, is available to stream on platforms such as Shudder, Philo, Hoopla, and AMC+. Additionally, it can be purchased or rented from Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and other outlets. The cast of that version includes Maximiliano Ghione as Commissioner Funes, Norberto Gonzalo as Jano, Elvira Onetto as Dr. Mora Albreck, George L. Lewis as Rosentock, and Julieta Vallina as Alicia, among others.

Rugna said in 2020 that he had ideas for a sequel to Terrified that he was working on. Whether or not that is still happening is unclear.
