Glen Powell & Judd Apatow’s Comedy Movie Gets Title, First-Look Poster

Glen Powell and Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy movie officially has a title and a first look.

What is the name of Glen Powell and Judd Apatow’s new comedy movie?

Powell and Apatow’s upcoming movie is titled The Comeback King, and is about “a country western star in free fall,” although little else is known about the movie. Alongside Powell, The Comeback King will also star Cristin Milioti, Madelyn Cline, Stavros Halkias, and Li Jin Hao.

Apatow will direct the movie, which was co-written by both Apatow and Powell. Apatow will produce the movie through his Apatow Productions banner, while Powell and Dan Cohen will produce for Barnstorm. Erik Baiers, Universal’s senior executive VP of Production, will oversee the movie for the studio.

For Apatow, The Comeback King will likely be his next project following a two-part HBO documentary project about Mel Brooks that he is currently co-directing with Michael Bonfiglio. Prior to that, Apatow directed the documentary Bob and Done: A Love Story, about the friendship between Bob Newhart and Don Rickles, as well as 2022’s two-part documentary George Carlin’s American Dream. Apatow also directed 2022’s The Bubble for Netflix and 2020’s The King of Staten Island.

For Powell, it’ll be yet another high-profile movie for the rising superstar. Since 2024, Powell has starred in a number of high-profile films, including Twisters, The Running Man, How to Make a Killing, and most recently, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Up next for him is a role in J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi fantasy film The Great Beyond.
