Avengers: Brie Larson Gives Coy Update on Captain Marvel’s MCU Future & Doomsday

Brie Larson isn’t saying whether or not Captain Marvel will show up in either of the upcoming Avengers movies.

Larson has played Carol Danvers in the MCU since 2019, which is when the first Captain Marvel movie was released. She reprised that role in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and 2023’s The Marvels, while the character also made cameos in 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and 2022’s Ms. Marvel.

Marvel Studios is now getting ready to release Avengers: Doomsday later this year and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, in 2027. At this time, there’s been no official announcement that Larson will appear in either film.

What did Brie Larson say about Avengers: Doomsday?

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Larson was asked where Carol Danvers will be during the events of Avengers: Doomsday.

“Oh, you know that I can’t talk about that,” Larson said. “Nice try.”

Carol Danvers was last seen in the MCU deciding to move into Monica Rambeau’s vacant home on Earth following the events of The Marvels. She’s seemingly living somewhere in close proximity to Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, as she and her family assisted with the move, while Carol also brought the alien Flerken named Goose along with her.

While this might not immediately set up Carol’s next chapter in the MCU, she could get involved with a potential Monica storyline, as the post-credits scene saw her arriving in a different universe inhabited by X-Men characters. Teyonah Parris has not been confirmed for the Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars cast; however, Kelsey Grammer’s Hank McCoy/Beast, which is who Monica is talking to in the post-credit scenes, has, meaning it’s likely she’ll at very least be mentioned in some way in the very near future.

Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
