Chris Hemsworth’s Heist Movie With Marvel Stars Is Dominating on Streaming

Chris Hemsworth’s latest movie has jumped straight to the top of Amazon Prime Video’s global streaming charts. Packed with big names and a gripping heist storyline, this slick thriller is dominating the platform’s overall and movie rankings, beating out strong titles.

Crime 101 takes over streaming after Prime Video debut

Crime 101 hit Prime Video on April 1, 2026, following a theatrical release in February that didn’t make a splash at the box office. Despite that slow cinema start, data from FlixPatrol shows the film climbed to No. 1 worldwide on Prime Video almost immediately, ranking above hits like Invincible and Mercy in overall viewing.

The movie is directed by Bart Layton and adapted from the 2020 novella by Don Winslow. Hemsworth stars as Mike Davis, a seasoned jewel thief planning one last big score along Los Angeles’ famous 101 Freeway.

He crosses paths with a frustrated insurance broker, played by Halle Berry, and an obsessed detective, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, who’s tracking him. Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte round out the ensemble cast.

While theatres didn’t reward the film financially, it grossed about $72 million on a $90 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). However, critics and audiences have warmed to it on streaming. On Rotten Tomatoes, Crime 101 holds an 89 % critic score with an 85 % audience score, reflecting strong overall approval. IMDb audience ratings show solid viewer engagement too, and the film currently sits at a decent 6.9 score.

Story-wise, the film blends slick heist action with character-driven drama. It digs into the motivations of its three leads and keeps the tension tight as the final robbery approaches. Many reviewers praise Layton’s stylish direction and the performances, especially Hemsworth stepping into a more nuanced, morally grey role than his usual blockbuster parts.

Even though some critics pointed out pacing issues or underused cast members, most agree that the movie delivers on suspense and character interplay, thus, making it a compelling watch for people who enjoy well-crafted crime thrillers.
