New Jon Hamm Movie Leads 2026 Box Office With Huge Milestone
Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers has become one of the biggest box office success stories of 2026. The animated film, featuring Jon Hamm in its voice cast, has now crossed the $500 million mark worldwide, putting it at the top of Hollywood releases this year so far.
Hoppers goes past $500 million at box office
The Hoppers box office numbers reflect how Pixar is still working its magic. In its fifth weekend, the film added $5.8 million domestically, bringing its North American total to $149.6 million. Overseas, it has earned $362.9 million, taking its worldwide total to $512.5 million. That total makes Hoppers the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2026 so far. However, it currently sits at No. 2 globally, behind China’s Pegasus 3, which has reached $609 million (via Box Office Mojo).
The film’s latest weekend saw a huge drop, which is typical as fresh releases draw family audiences away. A major factor is the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has quickly taken over screens and attention. Still, Hoppers has maintained strong momentum, especially internationally, where it has generated over 70% of its total collection.
Crossing $500 million worldwide is a major milestone for Hoppers, especially in a crowded release calendar. Directed by Daniel Chong, the film follows Mabel, a college student who transfers her mind into a robotic beaver to communicate with animals and protect their habitat.
Alongside Jon Hamm, the voice cast includes Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Kathy Najimy, and Dave Franco. The film premiered in Los Angeles in February, before opening in U.S. theatres on March 6 to positive reviews.
Its success comes at a time when the overall box office is improving. AMC CEO Adam Aron spoke of this trend, saying, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is exactly the kind of broad, crowd-pleasing release that brings people into theatres” (via Variety). He added that films like Hoppers and Project Hail Mary are also helping sustain that momentum.
