Isabela Merced’s Hit Sci-Fi Movie Streams on HBO Max Today
HBO Max expands its movie library with the addition of one of 2024’s hit sci-fi horror movies, which was led by The Last of Us’ Isabela Merced and Golden Globe nominee Cailee Spaeny. As of today, 20th Century Studios’ latest entry to the iconic sci-fi franchise, Alien: Romulus, is now finally available to stream on HBO Max.
What do we know about Isabela Merced’s Alien: Romulus movie?
Alien: Romulus was directed and executive produced by Fede Álvarez from a screenplay he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues. The film currently holds a Certified Fresh score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a Tomatometer rating of 80%, making it the third-highest-rated installment of the film franchise. The ensemble cast also included David Jonsson (Industry, Rye Lane) as Andy, Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone) as Tyler, Spike Fearn (Tell Me Everything) as Bjorn, and Aileen Wu as Navarro.
“This truly terrifying sci-fi horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its iconic roots,” reads the synopsis. “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young colonizers comes face-to-face with the most relentless and deadly life form in the universe.”
During its theatrical run, the 2024 film grossed over $350 million worldwide at the box office. Franchise creator Ridley Scott also served as a producer along with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill. Executive producers were Tom Moran, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Brent O’Connor. The creative team consisted of director of photography Galo Olivares, editor Jake Roberts, composer Benjamin Wallfisch, production designer Naaman Marshall, and costume designer Carlos Rosario.
