Jim Carrey’s Highest-Rated Movie Now Streaming on Paramount+

Paramount Pictures’ critically acclaimed comedy movie starring Jim Carrey has finally found a new streaming home. Since its debut in 1998, the film has maintained its Certified Fresh score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it Carrey’s highest-rated film to date. Meanwhile, Carrey’s 2004 movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind followed in second with an approval rating of 93%.

As of today, Carrey’s iconic comedy-drama film The Truman Show is now finally available to stream on Paramount+. The story centers on a man who’s unaware that his whole life has been staged as part of a massive reality television show that began at his birth. The ensemble cast also included Ed Harris, Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Natascha McElhone, Holland Taylor, Paul Giamatti, Peter Krause, and more.

“He doesn’t know it, but everything in Truman Burbank’s life is part of a massive TV set. Executive producer Christof orchestrates ‘The Truman Show,’ a live broadcast of Truman’s every move captured by hidden cameras,” reads the official synopsis. “Christof tries to control Truman’s mind, even removing his true love, Sylvia, from the show and replacing her with Meryl. As Truman gradually discovers the truth, however, he must decide whether to act on it.”

The Truman Show was directed by Peter Weir, with Andrew Niccol writing the screenplay. Producers were Niccol, Edward S. Feldman, Richard Luke Rothschild, Scott Rudin, and Adam Schroeder, with Lynn Pleshette serving as an executive producer. The film won three major Golden Globe Awards, including Best Actor for Carrey, Best Supporting Actor for Harris, and Best Original Score. Weir, Niccol, and Harris also scored Oscar nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
