Anne Hathaway’s A24 Thriller Movie Mother Mary Gets Intriguing New Trailer
A24 has shared a new trailer for Mother Mary, the upcoming psychological thriller led by Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway. The drama movie is scheduled to debut on April 17 in select theaters, followed by its wide release on April 24.
“Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm on the eve of her comeback performance,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the new Mother Mary trailer?
The video shows a closer look at Hathaway’s transformation into a famous pop star as she performs in front of thousands of fans during her concert. The trailer also cuts away several times to her character’s emotional scenes with Michaela Coel’s Sam, teasing the tension between the estranged best friends.
Towards the end of the video, we get an intriguing glimpse at the film’s dark tone and vibe, teasing the dilemma that Hathaway’s character will be facing. The trailer also offers a snippet of the acclaimed actress’s latest single, “My Mouth Is Lonely For You” from the film. The full version is now available on all music platforms.
Mother Mary is written and directed by David Lowery, who previously collaborated with A24 on 2021’s medieval fantasy The Green Knight. Joining Hathaway and Coel are Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, and Isaura Barbé-Brown, with Sian Clifford and FKA Twigs. The film features original music written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Charlie XCX. FKA Twigs is also contributing to the movie’s soundtrack. It is produced by Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnston, Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo, and Jonathan Saubach.
