2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, written and directed by David O. Russell, is officially available on the streaming platform now. The movie is based on the 2008 novel The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, and features a star-studded cast that also includes Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Anupam Kher, and Chris Tucker.

The movie follows the story of Pat (Cooper), a man diagnosed with bipolar disorder who is released from a psychiatric hospital. In an effort to try and win back his estranged wife, he enlists the help of Tiffany (Lawrence), a widow who offers to help him learn to dance if he enters a competition with her.

The movie was a critical success and earned over $236 million worldwide. The movie was also a major award winner, receiving eight Oscar nominations at the 85th Academy Awards. Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the film, its only win of the night.

“After losing his job and wife, and spending time in a mental institution, Pat Solatano winds up living with his parents. He wants to rebuild his life and reunite with his wife, but his parents would be happy if he just shared their obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles. Things get complicated when Pat meets Tiffany, who offers to help him reconnect with his wife, if he will do something very important for her in exchange,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
