Jason Momoa’s Lobo Shines in Supergirl Footage Before New Trailer

DC Studios dropped new footage and images of Jason Momoa’s Lobo ahead of Supergirl’s second trailer. Fans got their closest look yet at the galaxy’s most dangerous bounty hunter.

Jason Momoa’s Lobo is ‘The Galaxy’s Baddest Bounty Hunter’

Jason Momoa will play Lobo in DC Studios’ upcoming Supergirl, hitting theaters worldwide on June 26, 2026.

The official Supergirl social media account shared a new video clip on March 31 of Momoa’s Lobo riding his motorcycle, captioned “It’s not about the destination. It’s about the e̶n̶e̶m̶i̶e̶s̶ friends you make along the way.” In DC Comics, Lobo is an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from a planet called Czarnia. Director Craig Gillespie describes him as one of the colorful characters thrown into the mix of this space adventure.

Momoa had long wanted to play Lobo. He initially thought he was being called for Lobo when DC offered him Aquaman in the former DC Extended Universe. After a seven-year stint as the King of Atlantis, he was eager to join the rebooted DC Universe under co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

New images shared by Entertainment Weekly show Momoa riding Lobo’s classic motorcycle with a massive smile on his face. He holds onto one of the handlebars and wears a huge grenade as a necklace. Gillespie cites The Fifth Element as a key influence on Supergirl. The filmmaker references it as a favorite film that created an entire world of colorful characters, shaping how figures like Lobo fit into the movie’s expansive universe.

Momoa will not play a major role in Supergirl, but DC plans to bring him back as the bounty hunter in future DCU projects. He previously channeled similar energy as villain Dante Reyes in 2023’s Fast X.

DC will release a second full trailer for Supergirl on March 31, ahead of the film’s June 26 theatrical debut.
