Andy and Barbara Muschietti talk about DCU Batman fan castings
The Flash director Andy Muschietti recently shared his take on the fan castings for the Batman role in The Brave and the Bold. The Mushietti siblings sat down for a chat with Cinemablend and shared their opinions.
Muschietti is all set to direct The Brave and the Bold for James Gunn’s rebooted DCU. The journalist asked if he pays any attention to the fan castings on the internet, to which he replied, “I mean, curious, yeah. There’s always like…curious.” The journalist further added that the director is “keeping an eye on it”, to which he agreed.
Furthermore, Barbara stated, “I love our people, love our audiences, but in the end, you know, I think that the one thing that we get to do is to pick our cast.”
Since the announcement of The Brave and the Bold, many actors have been fast-cast to play Bruce Wayne in the movie. The fan-favorites to play Batman in the DCU are Brandon Sklenar, Alan Ritchson, Jonathan Bailey, Jensen Ackles, and Love Story fame actor Paul Anthony Kelly.
In September 2025, Gunn also revealed that he was in talks with someone about the Batman role. He stated in an interview with The Ringer-Verse, “Do I have ideas about actors to play Batman? Absolutely, I do. I have guys I like. I have guys that are at the top of the list, just like I had people that were at the top of the list for Superman. I know one actor in particular who’s a pretty big star that wants to be Batman. We’ve talked about it, but I’m not sure that’s the case.”
