Ben Affleck’s ‘Most Intense’ & ‘Badass’ Batman Photo Shared by Zack Snyder
Zack Snyder is stirring up excitement among DC fans once again. The director has shared a new photo of Ben Affleck’s Batman, calling it the “most intense” version of the Dark Knight yet. The post comes as Snyder continues to reflect on his time building the DC Extended Universe.
Zack Snyder shares Ben Affleck’s ‘badass’ Batman DT collectible
Snyder reposted Ben Affleck’s photo as Batman from the DT Collectible page on Instagram, commending the work. “Saw this on DT Collectibles and had to share — this is straight up badass,” Snyder wrote. “Batman at his most intense. The detail, the mood, the presence… unreal. This is why he’s the Dark Knight.”
DT Collectible had originally posted the Batman photo a few days earlier, accompanying it with a caption celebrating the staying power of the character and the movie era tied to Snyder’s DC work. The director’s repost fits a recent pattern of Snyder revisiting major moments and characters from his superhero films, keeping those movies in the conversation years after their release.
This latest tribute comes on the heels of Zack Snyder’s recent talk about the unorthodox process he used to cast Ben Affleck. Tasked with finding a Batman who could stand toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill’s Superman, Snyder relied on a low-tech but effective visualization technique.
“I did a drawing where I took Ben’s face, and I put the cowl on it,” Snyder recalled on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It sounds dumb, but I literally took a Sharpie and drew the cowl on top of some photocopy of Ben’s face. I guess I convinced myself in that moment that was the way.” That simple sketch convinced him he had found his man, leading to one of the most talked-about casting decisions in modern superhero cinema.
Snyder elaborated on why Affleck stands out among the actors who have worn the cape and cowl. He argued that Affleck succeeded in a rare feat: mastering both the “brawler” persona and the gritty vigilante.
However, as things stand currently, Robert Pattinson now wears the cape and cowl. The Batman Part II is releasing in theaters on October 1, 2027.
