Ryan Gosling’s 95% RT Alien Movie Box Office Continues Huge Global Run

Ryan Gosling’s latest alien movie has officially become a phenomenon. Project Hail Mary, the actor’s critically acclaimed sci-fi venture, holding a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, continues to defy gravity at the global box office. In its second weekend of release, the film crossed a major box office threshold.

Project Hail Mary box office crosses major benchmark in second weekend

The Project Hail Mary box office numbers are nothing short of stellar. The film soared past $300 million globally during its second weekend, a feat that places it as the highest-grossing Hollywood title of 2026 so far. Domestically, the film added $54.5 million, representing a scant 32.3% drop from its opening weekend (via Box Office Mojo).

Project Hail Mary’s box office hold is particularly impressive compared to other blockbuster debuts. The second weekend performance outpaced Oppenheimer (which had a 43% drop in its second frame) and Dune: Part Two (which dropped 44%). After 10 days, Ryan Gosling’s alien movie boasts a domestic total of $164.3 million. Overseas, the film added another $54.1 million across 86 markets, bringing its international total to around $136 million (via Deadline).

With a cumulative global gross of $300.8 million, the blockbuster movie has already surpassed the lifetime runs of major hits like Creed III. In fact, within its first 10 days, it became Amazon MGM Studios’ highest-grossing movie ever post-merger, reportedly not counting the Sony-distributed 007 titles.

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel follows Gosling as Ryland Grace, a scientist who wakes up alone on a spaceship with amnesia. He soon discovers he is on a mission to save Earth from an extinction-level event, leading to an unlikely friendship with an alien creature named Rocky. The film’s blend of wit, heart, and visual spectacle has fueled extraordinary word-of-mouth, driving its repeat business.

Project Hail Mary is currently playing in nearby theaters.
