It Chapter 1 & 2 Supercut Gets Exciting Update From Andy Muschietti

Director Andy Muschietti has finally opened up about the status of the It Chapter 1 & 2 supercut that he has been planning for a long time now. This comes after the critical success of the HBO Max spin-off series It: Welcome to Derry, which concluded its first season last December.

What did Andy Muschietti say about the It Chapter 1 & 2 supercut?

During a recent interview with /Film, Muschietti explained the reason why he hasn’t made the supercut version of the It movies. He confirmed that It: Welcome to Derry has now become their priority at the moment, especially with the development of its second season. However, he assured fans who are waiting for the supercut that they’re still planning to do it in the future.

“The show had a priority over the supercut. We’re in a moment now where we can definitely go to the studio and ask for support, but when is the question,” He said. “They can say, ‘Yeah, go for it,’ but now we are sort of committed, like happily committed, to season 2 of ‘Welcome to Derry.’ And there’s other movie projects going around. But we’re going to do it.”

The IT franchise is based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name. Muschietti directed both the 2017 and 2019 adaptations, which were written by Gary Dauberman. The two movies have an impressive combined gross of over 1.1 billion at the box office. They were led by Bill Skarsgård, who played the iconic role of the titular shapeshifting villain/Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Skarsgård also reprised the villain in It: Welcome to Derry Season 1, which took place 27 years before the events of the first movie.
