A new indie horror film is quietly building buzz as it moves closer to its debut. With DC and Marvel alums like Cameron Cuffe and Bruce Davison attached, the project, Godmother, now has a clearer path to release.

Godmother has wrapped production and is now gearing up for a festival debut in 2026, Variety reported. It comes from Charred Pictures, a new banner launched by Alanah Pearce. The studio is all about fresh ideas and offbeat funding, putting this project front and center in its early lineup.
John Veron directs and co-writes the film with Pearce. Godmother follows Theo and her boyfriend Colby as they head out to a quiet desert spot for a getaway. The day starts calmly but quickly shifts. They cross paths with two overly friendly retirees who clearly have something off about them. The tension builds slowly. What begins as a chill escape turns into something much darker.
The cast brings extra edge to the project. Paige Evans leads as Theo, while Cameron Cuffe, best known for his run in DC Comics-based series Krypton, joins the project as Colby. Horror icon Dee Wallace joins Bruce Davison, who has credits in big franchises like X-Men.
Behind the scenes, Pearce is taking a different approach to filmmaking. She revealed that funding often comes from creators and streamers who are already fans of the material. “One thing that I’m doing very, very differently… is reaching out to content creators,” she said, noting they “just want to make something cool.”
Pearce continued, “These are YouTubers or Twitch streamers who have a lot of money and, in a lot of cases, just want to make something cool. They already have these established careers where they can continuously make money. They operate very differently to most investors in the film industry.”
With production wrapped and a festival debut planned, Godmother is shaping up as a promising indie horror entry.
