Zendaya’s Secret in The Drama Will Lead to ‘Very Hard Discussions,’ Alana Haim Warns
Golden Globe nominee Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza) opened up about A24‘s highly anticipated black comedy thriller The Drama, led by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The movie is scheduled to debut in theaters on April 3, 2026.
What did Alana Haim say about the audience’s potential reaction to The Drama?
Haim will be playing Rachel, a friend of Zendaya and Pattinson’s characters who gets very disturbed by Emma’s secret in the upcoming movie. During a recent interview with THR, Haim warned that The Drama will definitely lead the audience to have some “very hard” or “very funny” discussions about Zendaya’s dark secret after watching the film.
“I saw it with some of my friends — we got an early screening, and it was really crazy the amount of discussion that happened after the movie,” Haim shared. “There are going to be very hard discussions, or very funny discussions, or very sad discussions. It kind of runs the gamut of emotion with this movie — and I think that without this movie, a lot of people wouldn’t be talking about those things, which is why you make art.”
She continued, “I am only coming from being in a band for my whole life, and I learned very quickly that you can’t look at anything, so I won’t be looking at anything. But I’m happy that there’s going to be discussions.”
The Drama is written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. The Norwegian filmmaker is best known for his work on 2023’s Nicolas Cage-led acclaimed satirical dramedy Dream Scenario. The ensemble cast also includes Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World: Dominion), Hailey Gates (Marty Supreme), Michael Abbott Jr. (Killers of the Flower Moon), Sydney Lemmon (Helstrom), YaYa Gosseli (We Can Be Heroes), Peyton Jackson (First Christmas), and more. The movie is produced by Square Peg’s Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen, along with Borgli and Tyler Campellone for Dilemma Films. It is also executive-produced by Chris Stinson.
“A couple faces a crisis in the days leading up to their wedding when unexpected revelations derail what one of them thought they knew about the other,” reads the synopsis.
