Alexandra Daddario & Sebastian Stan’s 84% RT Thriller To Exit Netflix
A critically well-received thriller led by Alexandra Daddario and Sebastian Stan is set to leave Netflix soon. With an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s upcoming exit gives viewers a limited window to catch it on the platform.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle leaves Netflix in April
We Have Always Lived in the Castle is scheduled to be removed from Netflix next month. The film will no longer be available on the platform after April 7, 2026.
The 2019 film, directed by Stacie Passon and written by Mark Kruger, is based on the novel by Shirley Jackson. It focuses on the Blackwood family. They have lived in near-complete isolation since a fatal incident within their household several years earlier.
The story follows Merricat, her sister Constance, and their uncle Julian. They remain cut off from the outside world while living in their family estate. Their fragile routine is disrupted when their cousin Charles arrives unexpectedly, driven by interest in the family’s hidden wealth. His presence begins to unravel long-held secrets, creating tension within the household.
The cast features Taissa Farmiga as Merricat Blackwood, Alexandra Daddario as Constance Blackwood, Sebastian Stan as Charles Blackwood, Crispin Glover as Julian Blackwood, and Paula Malcomson as Helen Clarke. Despite its limited theatrical impact, the film received a strong critical response. It holds an 84% score from critics and a 70% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jenna Stoeber of Polygon reported, “The horror of We Have Always Lived in the Castle comes from watching powerlessly as the tension mounts, straw by straw, before breaking spectacularly.” She concluded, “Despite being a period piece, We Have Always Lived in the Castle has a terror all the more frightening for how familiar it is.”
