Netflix Rebooting Beloved 2004 Movie, Cast Includes Logan Lerman & More

Netflix is rebooting 13 Going on 30.

Released in 2004, 13 Going on 30 is a rom-com movie about a teenage girl who one day wakes up and finds she’s aged 17 years. It stars Jennifer Garner, Christa B. Allen, Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, and more.

Who is starring in Netflix’s 13 Going on 30 reboot?

Per Deadline, Netflix’s 13 Going on 30 reboot will star The Perks of Being a Wallflower’s Logan Lerman and People We Meet on Vacation’s Emily Bader. Garner serves as an executive producer on the project, while Brett Haley is the director. Haley directed People We Meet on Vacation, which was released on Netflix earlier this year.

“13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films,” Haley said in a statement. “Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer. I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility. Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful. I also couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Emily Bader after People We Meet on Vacation. She and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people.”

The script for the new film comes from Hannah Marks, with revisions by Flora Greeson. Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum are producing, while Donna Roth, Susan Arnold, Scott Hemming, Alyssa Altman, and Marks are executive producers alongside Garner.

A description of the original film reads, “A girl who’s sick of the social strictures of junior high is transformed into a grownup overnight. In this feel-good fairy tale, teenager Jenna (Christa B. Allen) wants a boyfriend, and when she’s unable to find one, she fantasizes about being a well-adjusted adult. Suddenly, her secret desire becomes a reality, and she is transformed into a 30-year-old (Jennifer Garner). But adulthood, with its own set of male-female challenges, isn’t as easy as it looks.”

A release date for the 13 Going on 30 reboot has not yet been announced. The 2004 film is currently available to stream for free on Kanopy and Hoopla.
