Ready or Not 2: Samara Weaving Horror Movie Sequel Is Best Enjoyed Knowing This
With Ready or Not 2 being released this weekend, there are a few things that fans of the first movie might want to know about the Samara Weaving-starring horror movie sequel before walking into the theater.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come comes from Searchlight Pictures and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence. A sequel to 2019’s Ready or Not, the movie sees Weaving reprise her role as Grace MacCaullay, while the cast also includes Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, David Cronenberg, and Elijah Wood.
“Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side,” the synopsis reads. “Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.”
What should people know about Ready or Not 2 before watching the movie?
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come begins just moments after the first movie ends, meaning those who are interested in the sequel but haven’t yet seen the first movie are definitely going to want to check it out beforehand, as it’s pretty crucial to understanding what’s happening in Here I Come. The first Ready or Not is currently streaming on Hulu.
Much of the sequel plays out similarly to the first movie; the main difference, of course, being that Weaving’s character now has a sister, and the two of them spend a lot of time bantering. The two of them are initially estranged from one another in a plot point that’s quite similar to Jenna Ortega’s Tara and Melissa Barrera’s Sam Carpenter in 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI.
Lastly, those who are excited for Here I Come primarily because of Wood’s inclusion might want to adjust their expectations. He’s in the movie, but his character is largely in the background; meaning, he doesn’t actually join the others in hunting Grace and Faith and instead just provides some commentary and exposition.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is now playing in United States theaters.
