Fast Forever: Vin Diesel’s Last Fast & Furious Movie Gets Major Update
Vin Diesel has shared a major update on Fast Forever, the 11th and final movie in the Fast & Furious franchise.
What is the Fast Forever update?
On Instagram, Diesel revealed that Fast Forever has tapped Michael Lesslie to pen the script. Diesel shared a black-and-white photo of himself conversing with Lesslie.
“25 years. Eight directors. Countless writers, crew members, performers, each one giving something real to a saga that has outlasted trends, cynics, and time itself. That doesn’t happen by accident…It happens because people show up and pour themselves into something bigger than any one individual,” Diesel wrote. “Sitting across from Mike Leslie [sic], hearing what he plans to contribute to the polish of the next chapter, that same feeling returned. A story with something real beating inside it.”
According to Variety, Lesslie is rewriting a script previously written by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean.
Lesslie has been in high demand as a screenwriter. He wrote the screenplays for 2025’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The British screenwriter has also been reportedly tapped to write Marvel’s live-action X-Men reboot.
Fast Forever is set to be the finale for Diesel’s Dom Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise. Louis Leterrier, who helmed Fast X, is still attached to direct. Fast Forever likely picks up in the aftermath of Fast X, which ended with Dom and his son (Leo Abelo Perry) trying to escape from a trap created by Dante (Jason Momoa).
The Fast & Furious franchise dates back to 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. The racing franchise features 10 movies on the main timeline and one spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw. The 11 movies have grossed over $7.4 billion at the worldwide box office.
Universal Pictures has dated Fast Forever for March 17, 2028.
