2 Beyond the Spider-Verse Updates Are Great News for Spider-Man Fans

The producers of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse recently gave two updates regarding the upcoming sequel. The movie was announced soon after the release of the second Spider-Verse movie, Across the Spider-Verse. In April 2025, Sony announced that the movie would now be released in June 2027.

Spot will look even cooler in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse recently gave updates on the movie.

As fans wait for the sequel, Miller stated that the Across the Spider-Verse villain, Spot, will have an updated look. He revealed to Variety, “I would say the most emotional of the three. And there are some new… there’s some new things that are developing for the look of what Spot does specifically that are… actually going to be great.”

Lord also added on the upgrade on Spot and stated, “It’s going to take you to the places of abstraction that I think are really… going to be great.” He also suggested that the movie might not be delayed further. Lord added, “It’s on schedule, and it’s going to be beautiful and emotional.”

Notably, in February 2026, Chris Miller spoke with Gizmodo about the motivation behind perfecting Beyond the Spider-Verse. He stated, “We put the most pressure on ourselves. There’s no one that puts more pressure on us than ourselves, wanting to outdo ourselves each time and see things that you haven’t seen before and make it feel like something you’ve never experienced before. And so, trying to get something that is as worthy as the previous two has been the driver.”

On the other hand, Phil Lord asserted, “The main trick is to play free, and to have the whole team understand that their job is to try stuff, to make mistakes, to see where this could go. And I can report that they’re going hard. It’s so great.”
