Robert Pattinson confirms when The Batman 2 begins filming
Robert Pattinson confirmed that filming for The Batman Part 2 will begin in a couple of months. He shared the update while promoting The Drama, an A24 film in which he stars alongside Zendaya. The sequel continues the 2022 DC Studios film directed by Matt Reeves.
Speaking to Deadline, Pattinson described the upcoming project and its direction. “The script is extraordinary,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a really, really special movie and very, very different.” He also indicated that the sequel diverges from the tone of the first film.
Pattinson further addressed how the film evolves from its predecessor and what audiences can expect. “It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out,” he said. “It’s taking some big swings.” His comments suggest notable creative changes under Reeves’ direction.
Additional remarks about the script have also come from Colin Farrell, who portrays Oswald Oz Cobb, also known as The Penguin. Farrell discussed the screenplay on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and highlighted its structure and depth.
“I had many thoughts to share with Matt about the script. I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork,” Farrell said. He also outlined the narrative complexity and character development within the story.
Farrell continued by describing the film’s detailed construction and thematic scope. “It’s dense, it’s really, really intelligent, it’s so deep and detailed,” he said. “I’m saying too much. I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”
Warner Bros. currently schedules The Batman Part 2 for release on October 1, 2027.
Reports indicate that Scarlett Johansson is eyeing a role in the sequel, while Sebastian Stan is also in talks to join the project. The studio has shared limited production details beyond these casting discussions and the confirmed schedule.
