Rebecca Ferguson’s Dune 3 Update Is Disappointing News
Rebecca Ferguson, who will appear in Dune 3, has teased her role in the film. In a recent interview, she revealed a disappointing detail about her character, Lady Jessica, and her presence in the wider narrative. Her response comes as the trilogy’s concluding chapter begins its first major marketing phase, with a teaser trailer scheduled to release tomorrow.
Rebecca Ferguson says she has a small role in Dune 3
In an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ferguson touched upon her involvement in Dune 3 when asked to compare her experience in it to that of the first two films. The actress noted that, unlike the previous ones, she only had a minor role in it.
“I just dipped my toe in. I have no, sort of, comments on it,” she shared. Ferguson then praised the script, calling it “fantastic,” but said that Lady Jessica’s character arc only spanned the first two films. The Silo actress added that she initially thought she wasn’t going to be in the threequel until director Denis Villeneuve decided to include her in just one scene.
Ferguson later described what it was like working on a film she had no significant part in. “And that was a weird feeling,” she stated. “Walking onto a set that you know so well, and knowing that you don’t have a part of it.”
The Swedish actress further noted, “There’s a lot of FOMO. And the acceptance of, ‘This is just what it is.’ You just have to serve [the story].”
Dune Part Three’s teaser trailer will launch tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) and 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), going live on TikTok. Several character posters have been released, giving a glimpse into their appearances in the upcoming movie.
Dune 3 premieres in theaters on December 18, 2026. Adapting the events of Frank Herbert’s 1969 book Dune Messiah, its story takes place 12 years after Dune Part Two.
Villeneuve helmed the film from his and Jon Spaihts’ screenplay. In addition to Ferguson, Dune 3 features Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, and Isaach De Bankolé.
