3 Oscar Winners, South Park Creator, & More Join Cast of Minions 3 Despicable Me Movie

Three Oscar winners, one of the creators of South Park, and more all-star talent have joined the cast of Minions 3.

Universal Pictures and Illumination’s Minions 3, also known as Minions & Monsters, will be released in United States theaters. Directed by Pierre Coffin, the film will be the seventh entry in the Despicable Me franchise following the 2010 film, 2013’s Despicable Me 2, 2015’s Minions, 2017’s Despicable Me 3, 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, and 2024’s Despicable Me 4.

Who has joined the cast of Minions 3?

Per Variety, the voice cast for Minions 3 has now been announced. It includes Oscar-winners Allison Janney (who previously voiced a character, Madge Nelson, in 2015’s Minions), Jeff Bridges, and Christoph Waltz, along with South Park co-creator Trey Parker, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, and Bobby Moynihan. Coffin will also voice one of the minions.

Variety’s article says of the movie’s plot, “A prequel to 2010’s Despicable Me and sequel to 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, the newest adventure is set in the world of 1920s Hollywood as the beloved, highlighter-yellow underlings work to find the lead of their monster movie. Described as ‘rambunctious, ridiculous, and totally true,’ the story follows how the Minions conquered the entertainment industry and became movie stars … only to lose everything and unleash monsters onto the world before (as everyone knows) they banded together to save the planet from their mayhem.”

Illumination founder Chris Meledandri said in a statement, “The Minions have always had a wonderfully subversive spirit and ‘Minions & Monsters’ delivers a full dose of irreverence and comedic mayhem. Pierre and his Illumination team have brought a level of artistry to the film that has thrilled me all throughout production. The voice cast is filled with exceptional talent. Minions & Monsters arrives on July 1, 2026.
