The Call is leaving Netflix on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).
Brad Anderson directed the film that features Halle Berry as Jordan, Abigail Breslin as Casey, Morris Chestnut as Officer Paul, Michael Eklund as Michael, and Michael Imperioli as Alan, among others.
The film opens with Jordan, a 911 operator, handling a call from a teenager reporting an intruder. When the call abruptly disconnects, Jordan calls her back. The call unintentionally reveals the girl’s location, which ultimately leads to her murder. Jordan feels responsible and becomes traumatized.
After a few months, Jordan is shown training a new batch of 911 operators. One of them receives a call from a girl named Casey, saying that she had been kidnapped. Since she uses a burner phone, the operator cannot track its location and transfers the call to Jordan. Still suffering from PTSD, Jordan learns that it’s the same person who killed the teenager earlier.
Co-produced by WWE Studios, the film premiered at the 2013 Women’s International Film Festival in February 2013. It later arrived in cinemas in the United States the next month. Upon release, critics largely gave it a mixed-to-negative reception, criticising the film’s final act. As a result, it currently has an approval rating of 44% from 131 critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
But on the other hand, the audience had a more favorable opinion of The Call, garnering an average user score of 65%. The positive reception also helped the film become a commercial success. Made on a reported budget of $13 million, the film grossed $68.5 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).
